Apparently, there is a new book coming out soon. “Barry Trotter and the deathly Hellows” or something like that. This is almost certain to be the best selling book since well er …the last Harry Potter. Everyone else seems to be shamelessly cashing in on the huge hype generated, so why not jump on the bandwagon and ask: can the magic of Harry and Hogwarts give us any clues to Financial freedom?

Unfortunately, we do not have access to an invisibilty cloak for when the taxman comes; nor do we have a magic potion to reduce our electric meter. But, maybe we Muggles can still find a few tips for financial prosperity.

1. If you have a good business idea don’t give up.

J.K.Rowling was rejected by several leading publishers. Some of them told her. “there’s no chance of this selling”. If J.K.Rowling didn’t have faith in her creation, the manuscript may still be languishing in her attic as we speak. If you have a website or financial product, make sure you really believe in it. Then you will not be discouraged by difficulties, especially in the beginning.

2. Be Original.

The success of J.K.Rowling’s books is in large part due to her originality. Try to implement this in your own business. For example, if you wish to be a successful writer about financial matters, try to look at things from a new angle. Don’t just regurgitate old ideas. Be innovative: this will help you stand out from the crowd.

3. Friends are important for whatever we do.

If you want to build a successful business, don’t feel you should do it alone. A good business is about generating good contacts with others. Try to offer things for the benefit of others. This is important for a financial website. Write for the benefit of your readers, not for search engines or your benefit. Develop meaningful relationships with other webmasters; this will help you both grow. Don’t look upon everyone else as competitors. Harry frequently relies on the help from his good friends. At times they are indispensable.

4. Listen to the right Advice.

If you are venturing into the unknown; if you are starting a business or taking out a new financial product make sure you find a reliable person to advise you. Does the advisor have your best interests at heart, or is he seeking to lead you down the wrong path for his own benefit. The advice from a wise Dumbledore, may not be the advise we want to hear. But, if someone shows a clear path to reduce your mortgage burden, you would be a fool to ignore it.

5. Don’t leave all your Money at Gringots

Harry has many good qualities, but he undoubtedly is not a miser. He is not motivated by financial security. He is generous with his money. Because he is generous, we find that he always has enough to do what he needs to do. Other people are generous to him, like the Weasley’s and Sirius Black who gives him a top of the range broomstick.

6. Work on that Polyjuice potion for transfiguring your mortgage debt

… OK, that’s enough harry potter. ed.

Please, forgive this Harry Potter post, all I can say is that, at least this is the last Harry Potter book.
