I have to agree with you that by getting rid of cable helps a lot. I now get a lift, if I need to, instead of driving my car. I will be giving that up very soon. Great blog.

Great suggestions! I lived with my mum straight out of the university so I could save money. A little over a year later, I was able to buy my own house.

Some worthy advice and aptly named.

Cutting up your credit cards is certainly a painful step, if nothing else it takes a very long time to glue them back together properly. ;)

As for the $5 a day, with some proper planning it can be done. You just need to plan properly and avoid convenience shopping.

Haha... I conform to 8 out of your 10 tips for reducing debt... it's just the mending of my clothes and that luxurious trip to the back garden that have evaded me thus far!!

I think another great idea is to drop the tariff of your mobile or get rid completely! A cheap alternative is 3, but their phones are quite large and clumbersome. I think I'd rather have Croc Dundee's lassoo than a 3 mobile Ha!

I have my girlfriend on the £4 a day scheme which is bad as the dollar is stronger than the pound so if she sticks to it she will be debt free in a month, or its off to debt management for her.
